“When I was a kid, my mom and grandma used to make manti all day, and it would never be enough,” says Grant as he looks over his son’s shoulder. Missing his family’s manti, he and Evelina decided to start making the dumplings in Los Angeles. He found a small space in downtown L.A., named it Café Mante, and served customers beef and turkey manti, yogurt soup, lahmajoun, manakish and deli sandwiches.
The store closed eight months later. It took Grant and Evelina ten years of odd jobs to get back to their dream of making manti, but this time, with their son Sarkes at their Pasadena location, they decided to just focus on the dumplings.
There's a strong likelihood that your nana can't touch Evelina's two signature dishes. The chef, who has shoulder length black hair and has been known to wear a yellow Los Pollos Hermanos apron inspired by "Breaking Bad," prepares cheese beoreg.

This place has a bunch of tasty meals, from sandwiches to monte. Reviewing the chicken sandwich, which is very good. Ciabatta bread and ingredients used are fresh and has nice garlic paste to it. Very filling, quality sandwich. I’d come here for the monta - their namesake.
Decided to try this place as a suggestion from a friend. Glad we did! The food was tasty and the staff took the time to explain the different foods. Friendly people that work there! There was indoor dining or you could sit out on the covered patio.
Delicious! Never had monta before - you can think of them as small open-faced potstickers. They're tasty and easy to share meatballs surrounded by phyllo dough. I had the Hungry meal which was good for one person. Then I was invited to a potluck for which the Hangry meal was perfect!
